A History of KRK
KRK Systems was founded in 1986 by Keith R Klawitter - whose initials are behind the company’s name. As a film mix editor, Klawitter worked on movies such as “Brainstorm” and “The Doors”. He found that the monitors available to him were not giving him the accuracy and clarity that he needed for his work. This would lead to Klawitter hand-building high-end studio monitors to his own specifications. These early KRK monitors were made with a “design first” mentality that would become imbued in all future KRK creations. Word would begin to spread amongst discerning engineers and producers, who recognised the quality of Klawitter’s monitors and appreciated their punchy, clear sound.
Klawitter would start receiving commissions to make bespoke speakers for studio and live applications, eventually expanding the scale of his business into one of the most popular professional audio brands today. KRK products are synonymous with bombproof build quality and exceptional low-end clarity that makes them the first choice for many electronic music producers.
